Luka Doncic Trade - Card Market Impact
In a shocking move that has sent shockwaves through the NBA, the Dallas Mavericks traded superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in a three-team deal involving the Utah Jazz.
The trade, which occurred on February 2, 2025, saw the Lakers acquire Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick.
The impact of this trade has been felt not only on the court but also in the sports card collecting community. Doncic's flagship rookie card, the 2018 Silver Prizm, has seen a dramatic increase in value following the trade.
The card's value nearly doubled overnight, with recent sales reaching $1,850 for a PSA 10 graded card. This represents an 80% gain (+$800) compared to its average sale price just a week before the trade.
For those interested in Doncic's most valuable cards, his 2018-19 Panini National Treasures RPA (rookie patch autograph) Logoman card, numbered 1-of-1, sold for a record $3.12 million at auction in November.. While this particular card is exceptionally rare, it demonstrates the high ceiling for Doncic's most premium offerings in the sports card market.
